The Australian share market is likely to open slightly weaker later this morning, with global markets retreating overnight.

SPI futures are down seven points (-0.1%), at 5604.

In US afternoon trade, stocks pulled back as a pos-telection rally eased heading into the holidays.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 44 points (-0.2%) to 19898. The S&P 500 declined 0.3% and the Nasdaq lost 0.6%.

Europe equities drifted. London managed a small gain at the close, Paris ended flat and Frankfurt finished the day slightly down.

  • Dow Jones -0.1%; S&P500 -0.1%; Nasdaq -0.1%
  • FTSE100 flat, CAC -0.3%, DAX flat
  • Spot gold -0.1% at $US1131.71 an ounce
  • Brent oil -1.7% at $US54.40 a barrel
  • Iron ore -0.5% at $US79.19 a tonne
